The Linksys WRT54G has been a favorite wireless router for many techies thanks to its support for third-party firmware to enhance functionality. Unfortunately, the recent versions of the WRT54G have had a different chipset than the original, so that means it’s not quite as hackable as it used to be. But soon after making that change, Linksys also released the WRT54GL router that is based on the same hardware as the original WRT54G…so that is the one many people snap up these days.
Amazon has some great pricing on these routers — I believe they’re the lowest prices online right now. The WRT54GL price is after a $10 rebate, but even the pre-rebate price is lower than most other stores online. The rebate applies to purchases made by January 8, 2007.
As with other items in this price range, there is Free Shipping and for most states there is no tax.
